2026 Minnesota Voter Guide
Four years ago, six Moms Demand Action volunteers won their races and flipped the Minnesota statehouse to a gun-sense majority. Within months, that majority passed one of the strongest gun safety packages in the country. But that life-saving progress is on the line this November, and we have so much more to do.
After the shooting at Annunciation, Minnesotans demanded action, and lawmakers came closer than ever to banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. While Democrats hold a one-seat majority in the Senate, the Minnesota House is tied 67-67, and the Republican Speaker refused to bring the gun safety bill up for a vote. With every seat in both chambers now up for re-election and an open governor’s race, the work we do between now and Election Day is critical — and Moms Demand Action volunteers are leading the charge once again.
Our volunteers are running in some of the most competitive districts in Minnesota for seats that will decide control of both chambers. With gun-sense majorities in the House and Senate and a partner in the governor’s mansion, Minnesota has the chance to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, strengthen secure firearm storage requirements, crack down on untraceable ghost guns, and invest in school safety, mental health, and community violence intervention programs.

Governor + Lieutenant Governor
Amy Klobuchar + Ben Schierer
As a U.S. Senator, Amy Klobuchar has built a reputation as a common-sense leader who delivers results for Minnesota. In 2026, voters have the opportunity to elect Klobuchar as governor and deliver the same spirit of focus, determination, and progress to St. Paul. A leading advocate for gun safety legislation, Klobuchar helped author the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to close the boyfriend loophole and prohibit convicted stalkers and abusive partners from purchasing and owning firearms. Electing Klobuchar as governor and Ben Schierer as lieutenant governor prioritizes government accountability, a supported workforce, making the right investments in economic development, a robust education system, and increased gun safety measures.

And Boldon is just getting started – she’s fighting to return to the state Senate for another term in 2026, to push for evidence‑based policies that reduce harm and keep families safe, including a ban on assault weapons at point of sale, a ban on high-capacity magazines, and a ghost guns ban.

After the Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting in 2018, she led a 24-hour sit-in on the Minnesota House floor to protest a lack of action on gun safety legislation.
